On 24.03.2023 to 01.04.2023, the World Youth Weightlifting Championship took place in Albania.
The opening ceremony of this magnificent event took place at the Sports Palace “Feti Borova” in the city of Tirana, where the highest leaders of the World and European Federation were present. The ceremony was honored with speeches from Albanian and world sports personalities such as the President of the Albanian Weightlifting Federation, Mr. Elez Gjoza, President of the World Federation Mr. Mohammed Jalood, General Secretary Mr. Antonio Urso, President of the Olympic Committee
Albanian national Mr. Fidel Ylli, Ministry of Youth and Children Ms. Bora Muzhaqi and Deputy Mayor of Tirana Municipality Mr. Andi Seferi.
The activity was organized during the year when Tirana received the status of “European Capital of Sport”, and this brought increased attention to the activity.
The Albanian Weightlifting Federation brings for the first time a World Championship in Albania. About 500 athletes and coaches from all over the world came. There were 61 participating countries. The organization of the championship itself brings one of the best organizational models of sports activities in Albania, and the human resources of Albanian sports will be able to benefit from borrowing this model. Since the Championship has young participants, the FSHP wants to activate young Albanians.
The race took place at the “Ramazan Njala” Sports Palace in the city of Durrës.
Our country was represented by 5 athletes. Our results were with the athlete Enkileda Carja of the Elbasan team, who won the third place in the breakaway style with 87 kg, won the place of
fifth in the push style at 100 kg and third place overall in the two-stroke at 187 kg.
The athlete Samoel Rrasa of the Shtërmen team won the seventh place in the doubles with 248 kg.
